Expect the unexpected as poets, writers, and other creatives from the Hudson area and beyond reveal the inspiration and shadows behind their work.

Thomas Fucaloro is a winner of numerous grants from the Staten Island Council on the Arts, the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, the NYC Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes, and the NYC Commission on Human Rights. A six-time national slam team member, he is an adjunct professor at Wagner College, BMCC, and CSI, where he teaches poetry and literature. He has also facilitated workshops and shared poetry at the Neon Bronx Probation Center, The Positive Health Project, The Acorn Youth Treatment Center, Prison Writes, The Harlem Children’s Zone, The Staten Island Urban Center, The Canvas Institute, among others. Thomas has released two full-length poetry collections and multiple chapbooks, most recently LE(t)GO.
Jane Ormerod is an artist, Hudson Open Studios committee member, and co-host of the “A Galère of Poetic Autopsies” series. In addition, she is the author of three poetry collections and winner of a NYC Acker Award for her contribution to the avant-garde community. Her artwork can be seen at Circle 46 Gallery in Hudson (“The Hudson Five” from September 19) and Woodstock Artists Association & Museum (“Small Works M-R” until October 4). Michael Williams is a father, poet, and prisoner-rights advocate living in Hudson. In addition to creating CUPP (Create Unlimited Power and Purpose), a nonprofit focused on helping formerly incarcerated people adjust to life after prison, Williams has a clothing line called Brooklyn North, a nod to his Brownsville, Brooklyn, roots. Williams began writing while incarcerated as a young man and has since published two books of poetry: Reflective Perceptions: A Journey Through Thought and Emotion and Manifesting Perceptions: A Cold Wind Blowing.
